The customs enforcement team in Jinja on Saturday at around 11:30 am intercepted a truck registration number UAV 754D loaded with rice.
The team received intelligence reports and quickly deployed through Jinja-Kayunga highway to block the truck from crossing Isimba Dam.
“We fully deployed at the extreme end of the bridge and the target had no way out,” Vincent Kiberu a customs officer on duty emphasized.
Meanwhile, when verification was carried out, the URA team discovered 83 bags of 25 kilograms- of biryani rice and 271 dozens of assorted China-made T-shirts.
Currently, the truck and the items are at the URA Jinja station for offence management.
