The news of the tragic death of a 12-year-old pupil, Jeremiah Amanya, has left the community of Parental Care Kyehimba School in Mitooma district in shock.
The young boy, who was in Primary 6, reportedly committed suicide under unclear circumstances.
According to the Bushenyi police spokesperson, Marcial Tumusiime, the deceased was living with his grandmother, Beatrice Komwariro.
On the night of the incident, Amanya had dinner with his grandmother and later went outside to take a bath. However, he did not return the following morning, prompting a search for him.
Sadly, his lifeless body was found hanging from a tree in a nearby bush. The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the cause of the boy’s tragic action is yet to be determined.
The school has expressed its deep condolences to the family, friends, and schoolmates of the deceased.
The incident has also raised concerns about the mental health of young people and the need for proper counselling services to be provided in all schools.
