The Muslim Fraternity, led by the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, praised President Yoweri Museveni for offering Iran\’s leader, H.E Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi, the opportunity to engage with the Muslim community.
During the President\’s visit to Gaddafi Mosque in Old Kampala on Wednesday, Mubajje expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to participate in the programme of his official visit. He hoped that the visit would help to promote cooperation between the two countries and bring about peace.
Mubajje also commended the President for creating a conducive environment for intercultural dialogue, which has strengthened the Inter-Religious Council for many years. The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, also thanked President Museveni for this effort.
President Raisi visited the Al-Mustafa Islamic College in Kyengera and planted a tree at Aidan-Uganda Agricultural Park in Nakirebe-Masaka road to address climate change and biodiversity loss.
The Iranian leader\’s visit ended after one day, and he was seen off by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon Okello Oryem at Entebbe Airport on Thursday morning. He is expected to visit Zimbabwe next.
