Margret Kendere and Ronald Bakashaba, two siblings from Kiruhura district, have been arrested by the police for allegedly murdering their brother-in-law, Emmanuel Kwizera.
The incident reportedly occurred due to an alleged failure to pay dowry. Along with three others, the suspects are accused of collaborating and physically assaulting Kwizera, who had gone to his wife\’s parental home to try and take her back to his home.
According to Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, the lifeless body of the deceased was later found in one of the dams at a farm owned by George Rwakashugi in Katete cell.
Enanga also stated that the other siblings involved in the murder, namely Grace Namara, Allen Ikiriza, and James Amumpaire, are currently on the run.
Enanga assured the public that the police are making concerted efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining siblings involved in the crime, and they will face charges accordingly.
Dowry refers to the money or property traditionally given to the bride\’s family as a symbolic gesture of goodwill before the wedding.
