A teacher at Idhinda Primary School in Namalemba sub-county, Bugweri district is seeking compensation after being allegedly assaulted by a parent.
Joshua Kapere claims that Patrice Tibiita stormed into the school and attacked him for disciplining Tibiita’s child, whom he had caned for failing to complete his English homework.
Kapere explains that he had punished the child and left the classroom, only to return an hour later to find Tibiita there. According to Kapere, Tibiita stormed into the classroom during an ongoing lesson and physically attacked him, causing him to lose two teeth and suffer psychological trauma.
Kapere is seeking compensation to cover his medical bills and the resulting damages.
Robert Naabe, the school’s head teacher, says that Kapere is currently receiving treatment at Iganga General Hospital, and they are seeking justice for their colleague.
Naabe states that they are consulting private lawyers to devise a plan of action.
Patrice Tibiita has handed himself over to the Bugweri Central Police Station and is facing charges of indecent assault and trespass.
Diana Nandawula, the Busoga East Police Spokesperson, reports that the police are currently investigating the incident and gathering evidence from witnesses.
