The Police in Obongi on Friday Morning arrested four officials from the district over the non-delivery of a vehicle under USMID project.
Payment for the vehicle worth sh337 million was made in February but has to date not been delivered. The three projects are two resource centers in Itula and Palorinya while another is a market in Ndirindiri with a component of a pickup.
The office of the RDC Obongi received documents of goods delivered with payments made but the vehicle has never been delivered to the district.
The RDC Obongi, Mpimbaza Hashaka confirms that the arrested officials include; the acting district engineer Ivan Onapa Opio who is the project engineer, Fatuma Musa the procurement officer, Zubeda Safi an accountant and Charles Ayume the district internal auditor.
Meanwhile, the Chief Administrative Officer Andrew Leru is reportedly still at large. Mpimbaza says the State House Anti-Corruption unit has picked interest in the case.
He says the four officers are currently detained at Obongi CPS pending transfer to the Anti-corruption court in Kampala.
They are accused of causing financial loss to government, fraud, abuse of office and conspiracy. The Police Public Relations Officer North West Nile, Ignatius Dragudu says he was not aware of the arrest and requested more time to confirm from the Criminal Investigations Department.
